An Impure Bath

Dubela, Jit Roy: Chapatala Ghat is a place near the river where many people go to take a bath. On sunny days, the river water feels cool and refreshing. Children swim and play, while others pray as they bathe. The place usually has a peaceful vibe. But there’s a major issue. The river water is very polluted these days. There’s plastic, soap, trash, and dirty water from houses and factories mixing into the river. This water is no longer safe.
Yet, many people continue to use it. Some do so because it’s a tradition, while others don’t have access to clean water at home. Some also believe the river water is holy and can’t harm them. However, the polluted water can cause serious health problems. It can lead to skin issues, stomach problems, and other diseases. The stairs by the river are also dirty, with litter scattered everywhere. People throw clothes, plastic bottles, and other trash on the ground. There are no dustbins, and no one cleans up the place. The walls are chipped, and graffiti covers them. Even the trees nearby have plastic tied to them.
We must save Chapatala Ghat. The government needs to clean the river and install dustbins. People must also be educated about the importance of keeping the area clean. We all need to stop dumping trash into the river. Chapatala Ghat can become a beautiful and safe place again. It can be a clean spot where people can bathe, pray, and enjoy the river. We all deserve clean water. It’s our right, but we also have a responsibility to protect it. If we take care of the river, it won’t harm us. Let’s take action now before it’s too late.
