CPI(M) Protests Against Fake BJP Campaign

Dubela, Ankesh Roy: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) at the CPI(M) Ashoknagar Town Area Committee has strongly condemned a false and misleading campaign being spread by the BJP on social media. In a press release, CPI(M) stated that on April 23, they held a rally from Kalyannagar Bazaar to Kachua More to protest against a deadly terrorist attack that took place on April 22 in Pahelgaon, where 26 innocent lives were lost. The rally’s banner read: “Unite against the massacre by anti-national terrorists in Kashmir.”
However, BJP supporters have been circulating photos of that banner without the date, falsely claiming that CPI(M) is opposed to the Indian Army’s actions in Kashmir. CPI(M) vehemently denied this accusation, calling it a complete lie and a deliberate attempt to spread confusion and hatred. The party reminded the public of its long history of patriotism and its sacrifices during India’s freedom struggle. It also highlighted that its leader from Kashmir, Yusuf Tarigami, has been targeted by terrorists and has lost family members to terrorism. Therefore, CPI(M) said, there is no question of supporting terrorists.
CPI(M) urged people not to fall for such fake news and to stand united against those who spread hatred. The party also condemned BJP supporters for using offensive language against national heroes, such as Army officer Sophia Qureshi and the wife of a martyred Navy officer. Finally, CPI(M) made it clear that it strongly demands strict punishment for the terrorists responsible for the Pahelgaon attack, and that all necessary measures must be taken to safeguard India’s unity, democracy, and secular values.
