Minister Vijay Shah Apologizes for Controversial Remark Against Army Officer

Dubela, Jit Roy: BJP minister Kunwar Vijay Shah from Madhya Pradesh has issued a public apology after making a controversial statement that sparked outrage across the country and led to widespread criticism. The issue began when a video of Vijay Shah went viral, in which he said, “Those who wiped the sindoor off our daughters’ foreheads… we sent their sister to teach them a lesson.” Many believed this comment was directed at Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, a senior Army officer who had recently gained national attention for her role in Operation Sindoor following the Pahalgam terror attack.
The Jabalpur High Court took the matter seriously and ordered the police to file a case against Shah. The court condemned his language as offensive and harmful to national unity. It directed the state police chief to take action under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including those related to promoting enmity and threatening unity.
Following the court order, Shah released a video statement apologizing for his words. He said, “I am very sorry and ashamed. I respect Colonel Sofiya. I wanted to praise her work, but I said the wrong thing because my mind was distracted.”
“I respect Sister Sofiya and everyone from the military,” Shah added, folding his hands in apology. His comment has led to significant anger from people and political leaders, with many calling for his removal from his position.
