Post-Cremation Rituals – The Balance between Life and Death

Dubela, Kankana Maity: In this peaceful moment by the sacred Ganga River, we witness a scene filled with tradition, emotion, and quiet reflection. The photo captures a simple room near the ghat, where rituals are being performed after a cremation. Two men sit on the floor with a priest, surrounded by offerings—fruits, flowers, and holy items. These rituals are conducted to bring peace to the soul of the departed.
Their heads are shaved, a symbol of mourning and respect for the deceased. The priest, dressed in white, chants prayers and guides the family through the process. Each prayer holds hope. This space, though old and worn, carries a deep spiritual energy.
Outside the open windows, the river Ganga flows silently. A man can be seen bathing in the river, while another sits quietly reading something on his phone. Life continues, even amidst grief. The calm river reflects the balance of life and death—always moving, always accepting.
