Yashasvi Jaiswal Set to Move from Team Mumbai to Goa for Domestic Cricket

Dubela, Amritangshu Paul: Mumbai opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has requested a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to switch his domestic team from Mumbai to Goa starting next season. A source in the MCA confirmed that “He has sought an NOC from us and has cited that the reason for his move to Goa as personal”. People close to the ‘Gen-Bold’ cricketer also confirmed his intention.

Jaiswal’s transition to Goa at the age of 23 marks a significant step in his career, especially since the Goa team has recently qualified for the knockout stage. He follows in the footsteps of players like Arjun Tendulkar and Siddhesh Lad, who have also represented Goa. Last season, Jaiswal played a Ranji Trophy match for Mumbai against Jammu and Kashmir after the Indian board had issued a diktat for players, where he scored 4 and 26. Earlier this year, he was included to Mumbai’s Ranji squad ahead of their semifinal against Vidarbha but exited the match on the eve of the game due to a cited pain in ankle.

Jaiswal has been a key figure in Mumbai cricket since his U-19 days, and burst on to the scene after scoring double century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. His domestic performances elevated him to the Indian national team two years ago, and he has been a consistent performer ever since.

Most recently, the left-handed opener impressed the cricket fans in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy with 391 runs in five Tests at an average of 43.44, including a century and two half-centuries.
