Mohammed Shami Gets Death Threat After Gautam Gambhir

Dubela, Chhoyee Ghosh: Mohammed Shami has received a death threat via email on Sunday and an FIR has been registered by the Cyber Crime Police Station of Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha district on Monday. The FIR has been lodged by his brother Haseeb on behalf of Mohammed Shami and the sender of the mail has been recognized as Rajput Sindar.

Mohammed Shami, considered to be one of India’s finest fast bowlers, is a native of Sahaspur village in Amroha district, Uttar Pradesh. According to the FIR, India pacer Mohammed Shami who is currently playing with the Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL, has also received a demand of Rs. one crore along with the death threat via the email. The FIR has been registered under the following sections: Indian Penal Code (BNS), 2023 Section 308(4), Information Technology (Amendment) Act, 2008 Section 66d and Information Technology (Amendment) Act, 2008 Section 66e and the police are investigating the matter. In IPL 2025 so far, Mohammed Shami has been able to take only six wickets for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He currently has an average of 56.17. But not to forget his contributions in India’s title winning Champions Trophy campaign where he bagged a five-wicket haul against Bangladesh in their opening match in Dubai. Mohammed Shami returned to IPL after sustaining injuries and now his focus is completely on his performance.

Earlier, the former Indian cricketer and current head coach, Gautam Gambhir had also received a death threat via email last month, during the aftermath of the terror attack on civilians in Pahalgam, J&K. A complaint was lodged by the head coach to the Delhi police and he requested for special protection of him and his family.
