India is providing training and security assistance to Angola armies in Africa's Atlantic Corridor

Dubela, Jit Roy: In a developmental evolution, Indian Prime Minister Modi and Angolan President Lourenco met in New Delhi on Saturday to discuss a key issue of how they can help each other in their armies and navies.

India decided to give Angola a loan of $200 million. This money will help Angola buy new defense equipment to make its forces stronger. Prime Minister Modi also said that India is happy to help train Angola’s soldiers and sailors. They also discussed fixing and supplying defense equipment.

India and Angola have been friendly since they both fought for independence a long time ago. India even helped Angola during its civil war by sending soldiers to keep the peace. Now, both countries are working together on defense. India is becoming a bigger player in the world and Angola is in a good spot on the Atlantic coast of Africa. This means they both can benefit being partners. Angola wants to have friends from different parts of the world, not just the usual ones. India also wants to have a stronger presence in Africa and sees Angola as a way to reach other important countries in West Africa.

India is good at training soldiers. The Indian army has a lot of experience training soldiers from other African countries. This training can help Angola improve its army and navy, especially after many years of war.

The sea border security is very important thing. Angola has a long coastline on the Atlantic Ocean that make a difficulty to protect the sea from piracy and illegal fishing. India wants to keep its seas safe with their strong Navy, so working with Angola could help in this area. The Indian Navy has even visited Angola before.

Expert Abhishek Mishra said that Africa is a good place for India to sell the defense equipment it makes because it’s not too costly and works well. He also mentioned that the waters near Angola are dangerous because of pirates so India and Angola working together on sea security is important. Another expert Sameer Bhattacharya noted that Angola is trying to reduce China’s influence in their country. China has lent Angola a lot of money and Angola is reciprocating with oil and minerals. He thinks Angola is now looking for other partners like India.

Overall, India and Angola are becoming closer in defense because it makes sense for both of them. It helps Angola become stronger and more secure and it helps India have a bigger role in Africa and protect its interests in the sea. This partnership could also help bring more peace and stability to the region.
