Bengals heritage site is in controversy with color

Dubela, Tanisha Das: The Academy of Fine Arts in Kolkata West Bengal has now became the epicenter of political controversy after the BJP came to power. Recently the color of the security room and ticket counter has been repainted for three times. In the month of July the the room was painted saffron and was accompanied by a banner of Prime minister Narendra Modi.

The whitewashing of the place happened after BJP leaders failed to resolve the protest. Practitioners repainted the place white and demanded that cultural spaces should remain free of political dominance. The following day BJP MLA and actor Rudranil Ghosh led group of party workers who pinted the wall saffron again.

The Left and TMC accused BJP for forcefully imposing saffron or religious controversy on Bengal’s historic cultural heritage.
