Santragachi Construction Work Turns Commute into Daily Struggle

Dubela, Riddhi Biswas: The ongoing construction of a six-lane flyover connecting Santragachi and the Kona Expressway has led to severe traffic congestion in the Santragachi area, affecting daily commutes.
The construction is part of a ₹720 crore project stretching over 7.2 kilometers. It has caused travel times to increase, with daily commutes now taking up to 2 hours. Santragachi is a key junction, and the Kona Expressway is one of the main routes for traffic entering Kolkata. The existing infrastructure, including the narrow Santragachi bridge, is unable to handle the growing number of vehicles, resulting in frequent traffic jams.
Commuters are advised to stay updated with real-time traffic alerts from official sources to manage their routes more effectively. While the delays are frustrating, locals and daily passengers remain hopeful for quick action and support to ease the situation.
