NSG Commandos Conduct Security Checks at Jagannath Temple, Puri

Dubela, Jit Roy: A four-member National Security Guard (NSG) commando team visited the Shri Jagannath Temple in Puri on Monday for a routine security check. This visit was part of their annual plan.
Puri’s Superintendent of Police, Vinit Agrawal, said the visit was routine and not due to any danger or threat. The NSG team assessed key areas including entry and exit points, crowd management systems, emergency response protocols, and coordination between local police and temple security personnel. The NSG is India’s top force for handling terrorist threats. They often inspect security at important places like major temples and public spots to ensure safety.
The Shri Jagannath Temple is one of India’s most visited temples, especially during the Rath Yatra festival, attracting lakhs of devotees each year. It already has strong security with several layers of protection. Officials said the NSG team’s visit went smoothly, and they shared their suggestions with the district police to help further improve security.
