Nighttime Power Shutdown in Gurdaspur; Punjab Imposes Full-Night Blackout

Dubela, Prinona Ghosh: In light of escalating security tensions along the Indo-Pakistan border, the Punjab Government has imposed a full-night blackout across Gurdaspur district from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM, starting May 8, 2025, until further notice. This order is issued under the provisions of the Civil Defence Act, 1968. Central Jail Gurdaspur and hospitals are exempt from the blackout but must keep all windows closed and securely covered during blackout hours to prevent any light from escaping.

After India carried out Operation Sindoor, Indian forces destroyed nine terror sites inside Pakistan. In retaliation, Pakistan launched drone and missile attacks targeting strategic locations across northern and western India, including Awantipora, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj. Indian air defence and counter-UAS systems successfully intercepted these threats. Debris recovered from multiple sites confirms the Pakistani aggression.

On Wednesday night, the Indian Air Force deployed its S-400 Sudarshan Chakra systems to eliminate incoming threats. According to defence experts cited by ANI, the targets were successfully engaged and destroyed, although an official government announcement is still pending. On Thursday morning, the Indian Armed Forces carried out targeted strikes on Pakistani air defence infrastructure. India’s response matched the scale and force of Pakistan’s earlier attacks. Sources confirm that an air defence installation in Lahore was destroyed.

Sources also claim that over 100 terrorists were neutralized in a series of well-planned aerial assaults conducted early Wednesday morning in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack.
