ED raid: A new political weapon

ED raid

Dubela, Tanisha Das: ED raid means a search operation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). India’s Financial Crimes Investigation Agency is a central agency under the Ministry of Finance. In West Bengal it has been that the number of ED raid search operation rates is much higher during elections than before. It has been seen that majorly the political party leaders and people related to them are getting affected by the ED raid.

Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids occur primarily in non-BJP-ruled states. Traders, legislators, and transport of this kind of raid are never much seen to be conducted by the Enforcement Directorate in BJP-ruled states such as Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, etc.

It has also been seen that the Enforcement Directorate has not yet taken any truthful decision regarding the Mahadev app; police have arrested many people in the past few months regarding betting app cases.

Despite the allegation of the Enforcement Directorate being biased, the central government has mentioned that investigation agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) act independently and they are doing their duty of investigating financial crimes.
