Abhishek Banerjee faced backlash

Dubela, Tanisha Das: Abhishek Banerjee faced a mob attack in Sonarpur, South 24 Parganas. He went there to visit the killed TMC worker Sanju Karmakar. While going there, he was attacked with stones, bricks, eggs, and shoes. His shirt was torn and his spectacles were broken. People hit him to reflect all the anger within them. People even hit him with bricks in his eye. For his own protection, he had worn a helmet.

This was termed as his first public visit after the TMC’s defeat in the Assembly election. On that particular day when the mob attack happened, he also visited Beleghata to meet the family of killed party worker Biswajit Pattanayak. Abhishek Banerjee had beforehand informed the police of local violence. But none of the force arrived in regard of safety. Former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee moved him to another hospital, Belle Vue Clinic, where he was admitted late in the evening. Five people were arrested by the West Bengal police. An FIR has been filed.

Abhishek Banerjee said that he will move the High Court, Governor, and Supreme Court over the attack and for not getting police protection. Now the real question that arises is whether it was totally planned or an unfortunate event.
