New guidelines for West Bengal educational institutions
Dubela, Tanisha Das: With the Lotus blooming all over Bengal, we can see some new guidelines in the educational sector. It has been stated by the BJP that all state-run, government-aided and government-sponsored schools must sing Vande Mataram during the morning assembly before the classes begin. Earlier, in most schools, “Banglar Mati Banglar Jol” or other kinds of patriotic songs used to be sung in the morning assembly by the whole school.
On May 21st, 2026, the order was issued by the Directorate of Madrasah Education. Within one week of the order being passed, the BJP government made it compulsory for all schools. Maharashtra in February 2025 and Tamil Nadu in the year 2022 have also accepted the order. The Chief Minister of West Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari, has directly connected it to patriotism. NEP 2020 has been reviewed; the weight of the students’ bags will be 10 per cent of the weight of the student. Midday meals will also be provided to students to attract them to school.
Surely, development is expected by the people from the ruling party in the sector of education. Not just an education, but India also needs proper educational institutions.
