A big day in Bengal’s politics, Suvendu Adhikari 9th Chief Minister
Dubela, Tanisha Das: On 9th May 2026, the BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari took the oath as the Chief Minister of West Bengal; the cabinet ministers also took the oath at that time at the Brigade Parade Ground. The oath ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accompanied by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and many other ministers.
Prime Minister Modi and the 9th CM of Bengal have promised a very high rate of development in West Bengal with a “Double Engine Sarkar”. They have clearly promised to implement Ayushman Bharat in their first cabinet meeting. They have ensured that no TMC-like violence will be tolerated in the state. It has been clearly stated that the state will see development in the education sector and they have promised to set up IT firms. But some tension has been seen, with the SFI alleging an ABVP attack at CU after the massive win of the BJP.
This has been one of the biggest political oath ceremonies in Bengal since 2011. Rabindra Jayanti and the BJP’s oath-taking ceremony on the same day has been an agenda to connect with the people of Bengal a little more.
